Acne Remedies and Advice

The top priority for an acne sufferer is quickly finding a solution. The difficult thing is choosing which one of the many acne remedies available is best for you?

Many remedies, many results

The truth about acne remedies is that no single remedy will work perfectly for every single person. The main reason why so many different acne remedies exist is the many different ways that people with acne react to treatment.Finding one that suits you as an individual could take several attempts.

If you are looking for a remedy to treat your acne, here are some suggestions for how to work through the process:

1.Start by concentrating on clean skin. With bacteria being an important factor in an outbreak of acne, it makes sense to concentrate on keeping your skin clean. You should use a mild face wash formulated for acne-prone skin to wash your face each morning and each evening.

2.Improve your routine by adding an anti-acne formula.A cleanser with a stronger anti-acne formula is one possibility if your acne proves resistant to regular face washing.Recommended choices are formulas containing either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. As with many medications, different strengths are available. The advised method is to start with a relatively mild one and if necessary move up to a stronger one.

3.Change to a new anti-acne formula. There is no guarantee your skin will respond favourably to a particular acne remedy, or that your existing remedy will continue to work well.If this happens a change is called for. You may find using benzoyl peroxide instead of salicylic acid, or salicylic acid rather than benzoyl peroxide does the trick.

4.Ask your doctor for other options.A visit to your doctor or dermatologist is the next step if your acne doesn’t respond positively to an over the counter acne remedy.  He or she has a wide array of choices for helping you get your acne under control, ranging from mild antibiotics to topical creams and gels.A great many people are content to return to their over the counter acne remedies after an antibiotic treatment has done it’s job by getting their acne under control.

There’s no substitute for time

All acne remedies share one common attribute, they do need time to work.  Don’t expect to magically see 100% clear skin with just a few applications; rather, expect to see gradual improvement over the course of a few weeks.  If you are not seeing improvement in that amount of time (or the improvement is not as much as you would like) then move up to the next level of care for a few weeks and see what happens.

Always keep in mind that you may need to consult your doctor if you suffer a negative reaction to any of the acne remedies you try.  Remember that there are many, many different acne remedies out there that work in many different ways. You could soon be enjoying clean, acne-free skin if you follow this simple recipe. Take some professional guidance from your doctor or dermatologist, mix in a little bit of time, add in the little effort required and reap the benefits your patience deserves.
